Ruth M. Olenchuk

Ruth M. Olenchuk, 88, of Seymour entered eternal life on July 16, 2021, in the comfort of her home with her beloved husband of 60 years, Samuel Olenchuk, at her side.

Ruth was born in Derby on August 14, 1932, daughter of the late Edmond and Lillian (Ruth) Moroney. Ruth was a telephone operator for AT&T for many years until her retirement in 1982.

She was deeply religious and held a special devotion to Our Lady of Knock. She was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption and volunteered for many functions over the years.

Ruth was very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed “everything Irish,” especially the music. She was an avid fan of the UCONN Huskies basketball teams and enjoyed watching TV and movies. She enjoyed her travels to Ireland, Florida, and locally to the Mohegan Sun.

She was a kind, loving, and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Edmond Moroney.

She is survived by her husband, Sam; dear friend and caretaker, Rohanee Raghunath; niece, Pat, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 23,2021 at 9:45 a.m. at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave., Seymour followed by a 10:30 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff St., Ansonia. Private burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to greet the family at the funeral home on Friday from 8-10 a.m. Per the family’s request, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
