Saverino “Sam” Cicalo

Saverino Sam” Cicalo, age 81, of Shelton, formerly of Trumbull, entered into rest on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Patricia (Paolini) Cicalo.

Sam was born in Bridgeport, on November 17, 1943, son of the late Savino and Katherine (Amorando) Cicalo. Sam advanced in his career quickly in manufacturing and production planning for many companies. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to the West coast and going on many adventures. Sam was a proud and active member of the Tashua Knolls Senior men’s club where he was on the golf committee as tournament manager and interclub events where he made many lasting friendships. Sam was also a competitive bowler with the men’s club and also in a senior league with his wife Pat. Sam also took pride in tending to his community garden where he harvested many vegetables to share with family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family whether it was a birthday, anniversary, holiday or just hanging out for a summer barbecue. Sam loved doing home projects and just enjoyed taking long walks at the beach with his wife. Sam and his wife shared a long, loving marriage.

Besides his beloved wife Patricia, Sam is survived by his children, son Samuel, daughter Debbie, son in law John Ryan and sister Angelina Duenges, his buddy and grand dog, Rip. and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Mary Zaremba, nephew Bill Duenges and mother in law Phyllis Lucas.

On Friday, friends may greet the family from 8:30 — 11:00 AM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary Church, 5 Donovan Lane, Shelton, CT 06484 or the American Lung Association, 55 W. Waker Driver, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
