Sean Byrne Foley, age 40, of Ansonia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 15, 2017.
Born in County Cork, Ireland on April 21, 1977, Sean was predeceased by his loving parents Patrick Foley, formerly of County Cork and Mary Beth Foley of Ansonia.
Sean was a communicant of The Church of the Assumption and a graduate of Assumption School in Ansonia. He attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, playing soccer for the Green Knights, where his athletic talents on the soccer field earned him the opportunity to compete internationally playing in Cuba before going on to graduate in 1996.
Soon after Sean relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began to establish his career as a carpenter, finding his true passion and livelihood in honing skills that were taught to him by his talented father. After more than a decade he returned to Connecticut in 2011 to work alongside his brothers in the carpentry business before eventually going on to establish his own company. He had deep pride in his manual work but he was also especially gifted at the art of conversation and developing relationships.
A genuinely friendly and sincere man, Sean was the epitome of an easy-going, free spirit who felt most at home in nature and treasured long days of fishing on the peaceful water. His other passions included music, history, politics, watching Irish football and most importantly spending time with his large family. He particularly valued moments spent with his nieces and nephew playing and storytelling. His mischievous smile, warm heart and kind disposition will be deeply missed among his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Sean was predeceased by his sister, Tara Foley, and brother-in-law, Jeff Ingram. He is survived by his brother Brendan Foley, sister Patricia Foley Ingram and her fiancé John Hepple and nieces Hannah and Maeve Ingram, brother Thomas Foley and his wife Susan Morse Foley and niece Harbour Foley, sister Kathleen Foley Mierkiewicz and her husband Scott Mierkiewicz and niece and nephew Isabelle and Miles Mierkiewicz.
He is also survived by his Aunt “Peggy” Margaret Foley of Milford, CT, cherished Aunts and Uncles in Ireland, many cousins, as well as extended family and special family friends. He was also predeceased by his dog “Bella Blue”, who was his beloved and trusting companion for 17 years.
