Sebastiana Agnes Matejek, age 89, wife of the late Stanley Matejek and longtime Seymour resident, entered into eternal rest May 23.
She was born May 30, 1921 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Spada Ferla. She was a parishioner of St. Augustine Church in Seymour and a former parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.
She worked for Sponge Rubber Co. as well as Farrel Corp., and was an avid UConn women’s basketball fan.
Sebastiana was predeceased by her sister Josephine Parsons and two step sisters, Anita Gambacini and Teresa
Farrel.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Elliot, and her husband Fred of Seymour; two brothers, Angelo Ferla of Ansonia and Mike Ferla of Seymour; two grandsons, Todd Elliott and his wife Anna of Medway, Mass., A. and Scott Elliott and his wife Suzanne of Holliston, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren, Scott, Jack, Brett, Erica, Morgan and Haley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 11 a.m. from St. Augustine’s Church, 35 Washington Ave., Seymour. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Augustine’s Church.
