Shirley A. Weeks, age 92, a resident of Ansonia since 1960, entered eternal rest on May 25, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Myron W. Weeks. Shirley was born in Bridgeport, CT on January 28, 1932, daughter of the late Clarence and Edythe Gomberg Bray. She was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley had a creative spirit, taking art classes, sewing costumes for Halloween and stuffed animals, baking bread, and painting. Many of her beautiful landscapes on canvas adorn the walls of her and her children’s homes. In addition to her creative pursuits, she found joy in watching NBA games and action movies, decorating for the holidays, listening to old school Country and Western, and vacationing in Maine.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Donna Weeks and her husband John Marciniak of Johns Island, SC, Tracey Weeks and her husband Vincent Proto of Wallingford and Laurie Weeks of Windsor Locks, CT, grandchildren, Arri Weeks and Lane Proto of New York City and Torrey Proto of New Haven, a sister, Jane Ruskin of New York and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Bernice Buckmir, Betty D’Ostilio, and Joan Johnston. Shirley’s family is very grateful for the care and companionship provided by Betty Adjai over the past year.
Per Shirley’s wishes, her funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements. To sign Shirley’s guestbook or share a memory, please visit www.spinelliricciutifh.com.
