Shirley M. Guliuzza, age 87, entered peaceful rest on Saturday morning, October 22, 2022, in the comfort of her home. She was predeceased by husbands, Charles Loesche and Salvatore Guliuzza.
Shirley was born in Derby on October 10, 1935, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Demensky Behuniak. A resident of Seymour for fifty-seven years, she had worked as a physical therapist aide until her retirement. Shirley always was there to support her family, from being a Girl Scout leader in years past to being a cheerleader at her grandchildren’s activities, or as simple as a tender ear to listen and help with advice or cooking a favorite meal. She was very active at the former St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia where she served as vice president of the Ladies Guild. Shirley was a member of the Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, and Oxford Senior Centers and loved to travel.
She leaves to cherish her memory, loving daughters, Deborah Conte (John) and Karen Georgia (Mark) of Beacon Falls and Linda Diotalevi (Thomas) of Naugatuck, grandchildren, Krystle Mott (Jared) of Ansonia, Jonathan Conte (Brittany Ziman) of Beacon Falls, Ashley Scagliarini (David) of Beacon Falls, Kyle Georgia of Beacon Falls and Jason Diotalevi (Brittany) of Sandy Hook, great-grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Brooklynn Mott, Gia, Bryce and Brooks Scagliarini, Sophia and Olivia Diotalevi as well as numerous life-long friends. We thank her companion aide, Sandra, who took excellent care of her these last couple of years.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral will then proceed to Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia for her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Interment will immediately follow in the family plot in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Derby.
