Sophia C. Carpinteiro

Sophia C. Carpinteiro, age 42, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 10, 2024, at CT Hospice in Branford, with her loving family by her side. 

She was the cherished wife of Brian M. Garrigan. Sophia was born in Waterbury, CT on April 28, 1982, beloved daughter of Antonio and Marilia Magalhaes Carpinteiro of Waterbury. She was a graduate of Kennedy High School in Waterbury in 2000 and later attained her associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Tunxis Community College. Sophia was a beautiful, good-hearted, easy-going, likeable, family-oriented woman. 

She worked as a dental hygienist at Dental Associates in Shelton where she took great pride and loved her patients and in turn her patients respected, trusted, and loved her. She never would turn down an opportunity to spend time with her family and friends, especially if it was at the beach. She also loved to travel and always looked forward to visiting family in Portugal. 

Her greatest joy was being called MOM” by her beautiful daughters, Emma, age 6, and Mia, age 2. 

In addition to her husband Brian, parents, Antonio and Marilia, and daughters, Emma and Mia, she leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Vanessa M. Carpinteiro (Kyle Koch) of Cheyenne, WY, father-in-law, James Garrigan (Lois) of Naugatuck, mother-in-law, Elizabeth O’Connor (James) of Yarmouth, MA, maternal grandfather, Agostinho Augusto of Portugal, brother-in-law, Patrick Garrigan (Tiffany) of Seymour, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Garrigan of Branford, three nephews, one niece, cousins, and countless friends. 

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2071 Baldwin Street in Waterbury for her Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sophia’s memory may be made to her husband Brian to be used for the future education of Emma and Mia.
