Sophie Gladding, 93, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2011, at Birmingham Health Care in Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late William L. Gladding.
Mrs. Gladding was born in Ansonia on Jan. 8, 1918, daughter of the late John and Anna Valenta Bashura. A resident of Ansonia since the age of six, she was employed at the former Peter Paul Candy Co. in Naugatuck and Seymour Products in Seymour and retired from Auto Swage in Shelton. Sophie enjoyed traveling, dancing to Polka’s, swimming, and the beach.
She is survived by a loving son, Charles W. Gladding of Seymour, a loving daughter, Arlene Rannings and her husband James of Seymour, a sister, Marsha Moruska of Naugatuck, a granddaughter, Kathryn Zullo (Richard) of FL, great-grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Zullo, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Bashura and sisters, Anna Hancharyk, Helen Bashura, Catherine Spiwak, and Rose Moroney.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sophie’s funeral service and celebration of her life on Monday, September 12, 2011, at 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, with Pastor James Wegner officiating.
