Stanley J. Kuzma Jr., age 74, entered eternal rest on September 2, 2024, at his home in Beacon Falls, with his family by his side, after a brief, aggressive battle with cancer.
He was the loving husband of fifty-four years to Diane Zasun Kuzma. Stanley was born in Derby on November 12, 1949, son of the late Stanley J. Kuzma Sr. and Bertha Tanner Kuzma.
He was raised in Seymour where he graduated from Seymour High School then went on to attain his Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and later received his Master’s degree. Stanley later moved to Beacon Falls where he resided for the last fifty years. He was employed as a high school business teacher for the Amity Regional Board of Education for thirty-six years until his retirement.
During his years teaching in Amity, he was the business manager of the Athletic Department. Stanley served in the United States National Guard for ten years. In his earlier years, Stanley coached his son and daughter’s sports teams and later had the privilege of attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on as their number one fan. He was very athletic and enjoyed golfing, bicycling, sometimes thirty miles in one outing and playing slow pitch softball in the Valley area for many years.
Stanley took pride in tending to his yard and vegetable garden. He was a fan of UCONN basketball, New York Yankees, and New York Giants.
In addition to his wife Diane, Stanley leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Candyce M. Nolan of Prospect, a son, Kevin J. Kuzma (Janet) of Newtown, sisters, Patricia Shelton (Robert) of Seymour and Sandra Kuzma of Beacon Falls, grandchildren, Luke M. Nolan, Rory M. Nolan, Lily M. Kuzma, Kendall B. Kuzma, Brynn J. Kuzma, and Braxton S. Kuzma. He also leaves behind his two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Christine (Zenon) Szwaba and Julie (Pasquale) D’Onofrio with whom he enjoyed many day trips and spending time with, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Sophie and Antoni Zasun and a brother-in-law, Anthony Zasun.
