Stanley Karwowski

Stanley Karwowski, age 73, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 7, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Anna Mysliborska Karwowski.

Stanley was born in Jurzec, gmina Stawiski, Poland on Oct. 30, 1943, beloved son of Bronislawa Smiarowska Karwowski of Shelton and the late Eugeniusz Karwowski. He immigrated to the United States in 1979 and resided in Ansonia for twenty years. Stanley was employed as the head baker at the former French Bakery in Stratford, a job he loved, until his retirement at the age of 64. During his retirement years, he enjoyed his time with family and friends. Stanley loved the outdoors, spending time in his garden and smoking an assortment of fish and meats in a smokehouse he proudly built. Stanley was a kind family man and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Gregory Karwowski (Kiyoko), a daughter, Alicia Turski (John) of Woodbridge, sisters, Jadwiga Wegiel (John) and Marianna Turski (Eugene) of Ansonia and Halina Wegiel (Marian) of Shelton, grandchildren, John and Julia Turski and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2017, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 32 Jewett Street in Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow at Mount St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
