Stanley P. Lisewski, Sr., age 87 of Derby, entered into rest on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of the late Theodora Ukanowicz Lisewski.
Mr. Lisewski was born in Seymour on November 4, 1922, son of the late Peter and Nellie Growadzka Lisewski and was a resident of Derby since 1947.
He was a machinist for 30 years at Uniroyal of Naugatuck before his retirement in 1977. He was a supernumerary police officer in the City of Derby for 40 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant with the 385th fighter squad of the 8th Air force Division in Europe. He served in many campaigns during the war including Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland, and also served in the Central European Theater.
He was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic War Veterans, Polish Falcons, White Eagles, Polish Young Mens Club, Police Association of CT and a Past Captain of East End Hose Company of Derby.
He was the loving father of Louise McInerney, and her husband, Thomas of Derby, Anne Lisewski of Seymour, Michael Lisewski, and his wife, Patricia of Oxford, Philip Lisewski, and his wife, Paula of Seymour, and Stanley P. Lisewski, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Oxford.
He was the loving grandfather of Karen, Peter, Sarah, Michael, Matthew, Adam, Emily, and Noah. He was the cherished great-grandfather of Bradley, Peter, and Zoe, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, William, Harry and Philip Lisewski and two sisters, Mary Teradine and Lucy Belcinsky.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby.
His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 8:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Michaels Church. His burial with full military honors will be in St. Michaels Cemetery.
