Stella Mary Huzi, age 100 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Michael Huzi, died peacefully on March 22, 2016 at the Paradigm Healthcare Center, Prospect.
Born in Ansonia on June 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Ignace and Pelagia Molski Baczek Rachuba.
Mrs. Huzi was a homemaker, a communicant of the Church of the Assumption and longtime resident of Ansonia. She was a member of the Ansonia Senior Center and the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Post 1677.
She is survived by her devoted children, Paul (Doris) Huzi of Ansonia, Jean DiLisio of Seymour, Mary Ann (Frank) Persico of Ansonia, Patricia Matthews of OH; daughter-in-law, Margaret (Richard Petit) Huzi Petit of Naugatuck; sister, Hennrietta Fritz of Derby; 11 cherished grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Huzi; sons-in-law, Joseph DiLisio and Mitchell Matthews; sisters, Alfreda Daily and Jennie Gaito; and brothers, Joseph and Walter Rachuba and Vincent Baczek. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
