Stephanie Poslusny, age 97, a lifelong resident of Derby peacefully entered into eternal rest in her home on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
She was born in Derby on June 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Lubera) Poslusny. She was a longtime legal secretary for several attorneys in New Haven before her retirement. She was also secretary of the New Haven Gridiron Club for many years. Stephanie enjoyed exploring other interests, enrolling in classes such as cooking, baking, cake decorating, chair caning and real estate.
She was a fun- loving person who liked dancing, shopping, dining out, spending time with family and entertaining friends, especially her life-long friend and classmate from Derby, Alice Pokladowski.
Stephanie is survived by her four nieces, Cynthia Duggan, Marcia Orcutt, Roberta Gammons and Linda Barbeau, eight grandnieces and grandnephews, Robert Duggan and Stephanie Duggan McCabe, Brianna and Victoria Gammons, Emily and Sarah Orcutt and Zachary and Krista Barbeau. She also is survived by one great grandnephew, Nathan McCabe. She was predeceased by three brothers, Francis A. Poslusny, D.D.S., Mitchell Poslusny, Stanley J. Poslusny and three sisters, Genevieve Chartier, Bernice Poslusny, and Stella Zuba as well as her niece, MaryAnn Poslusny and nephew, Frank Zuba. S
tephanie’s family would like to thank the myriad of people who helped care for her the last few years of her long life. Friends are invited to greet Stephanie’s family on Wednesday December 22 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby.
Masks are required to attend the visitation. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:45 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM in St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, CT 06418.
