Stephen J. Blizman, III of Sanford, Florida passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023 at the age of 88 surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Bridgeport, CT on October 20, 1935 to the late Stephen J. Blizman, II and Anna Blizman, Stephen graduated from Bullard Havens Technical High School in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 with an additional 2 years in the Army Reserves. He was retired from the Town of Fairfield, CT where he served as a firefighter until 1996. He also retired from a second career at Costco in 2015.
Stephen, who had a personal relationship with his Lord, Jesus Christ, was a member of City Church in Sanford, FL and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores Blizman; his children, Suzanne Roberts (Curtiss) of Orlando, FL, Sharon Eiserman of Sanford, FL, Stephen J. Blizman IV (Sue) of Ormond Beach, FL, Richard Blizman of Sanford, FL; his grandchildren, Gabriel Blizman of Lake Mary, FL, Daniel Blizman of Derby, CT, Stephanie Crooke (Danny) of Sanford, FL and Luke Roberts of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Veronica Hibbert (Roger) of Bethel, CT and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Blizman.
The family will receive friends from 11 – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, FL 32771. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 p.m. with entombment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
