Sterling R. Spencer, age 77, entered eternal rest on May 6, 2025, at his home in Ansonia where he resided for thirty-five years.Born in Framingham, MA on March 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Richard Spencer and Mabel Brown Tognacci.
He was employed as a heavy machinery mechanic for Hampford Research in Stratford for many years until his retirement. Sterling was a generous, kind gentleman who deeply loved caring for his family. He was a huge advocate for animals, veterans, and any child in need of support. Sterling was an avid golfer and fisherman who also enjoyed building stock cars and participating in Demolition Derby.
Sterling leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Richard S. Spencer of Petersburg, NY, and Wayne Spencer of Milford, a daughter, Keri McLaughlin of Ansonia, grandchildren, Zack Spencer, Kaitlynn Spencer, Mikayla Vilani (Michael) and Ryan McLaughlin (Hailey), great-granddaughter, Stella Rose McLaughlin and feline buddy, Gordy. He was predeceased by his son, Timothy Spencer.
Per Sterling’s request his funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
