Steven A. Jackson

Steven A. Jackson, 83, of Shelton passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2025.

He was born on May 21, 1941 in Presque Isle, ME to the late Helen Peggy” Bergman and Albert Jackson. After relocating to Connecticut in 1955, Steven attended East Haven High School, where he played football and basketball for the Yellow Jackets before graduating in 1959. Following 27 months of honorable service in the US Army, he earned an associates degree in business from Quinnipiac University. 

Steven subsequently embarked upon a successful 53-year career as a transportation broker for various trucking companies throughout New England. An avid golfer, he joined several clubs over the course of his Connecticut residency. 

For the past two decades, he was a member at Blackhawk Country Club (formerly Oronoque CC) in Stratford, where he was a stalwart in The Clowns” golf league. Steven was also a die-hard sports fan, who loyally supported the New York Yankees, New York Football Giants, and University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball programs. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soulmate of 60 years, Barbara, as well as his stepfather, Fred Bergman. 

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey, of Yonkers, NY and his sister, Sally Costello, of Wallingford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, 47 Franklin Street in Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00am to 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with arrangements.
