Tania Sapko

Tania Sapko of Seymour passed away on July 31st, 2013. She was the daughter of Alyce Waskewicz Sapko and the late Paul Sapko, of Seymour.

She was a graduate of Seymour High School and the University of New Haven. She also received a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

Tania worked for several nonprofit and public service organizations including Amnesty International. She formerly worked in the Town of Seymour, Finance Department. She had also served as head grant writer for the New York City Police Department and taught at the University of Connecticut. Her most recent employer was the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven where she worked as a Research Assistant.

Tania is survived by her mother, her brother Paul Sapko and his wife Pam, of Kennett Square, PA , her sister Natalya Sapko and her husband Joseph Hamilton, Jr. (Rusty) of New Haven, and her nieces Larissa and Hannah Sapko, both of Kennett Square, PA. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles, many cousins and in-laws, and a number of loyal friends.

Tania was a devoted animal advocate who volunteered for several organizations that promote the humane treatment of animals. She was an avid fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team, and enjoyed yoga, walking, reading and music. She also loved world travel and had extensively explored Asia, Europe, Iceland , and the United States.

The immediate family would like to thank relatives and friends for their support during this difficult time.

Family and Friends may call on Thursday, September 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street , Seymour. Interment will be held in private at a later date.
