Teresa J. (Tomala) Casa aka Terri, age 95, entered eternal rest on December 11, 2023, in her home with her daughter, son, and long-time friend by her side.
She was the beloved wife for 43 years of the late Salvatore J. Casa Sr. and the late Thomas V. Casa for 23 years. Terri was predeceased by her daughter, Julianna Keller, and her stepson, Edward Casa. Teresa was born in Derby on June 22, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph Tomala, and Julia Tereskiewicz.
A lifelong resident of Derby, Teresa was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. Terri and Sal had a wonderful life together entertaining family and friends until his passing in 2015. They shared many adventures traveling to 30 countries throughout their years together.
Teresa was a devoted mother and friend to everyone she met. She instilled in her children a love for life, a strong work ethic, and the importance of being kind and compassionate to others. Teresa was always there for her family and friends, offering a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and a helping hand. She was known for her warm and welcoming personality. Her sense of humor always brought a smile to people’s faces. Teresa was extremely close to her caregivers with whom she had a loving friendship. Despite the challenges that life threw at her, Teresa never lost her positive outlook. She faced every obstacle with courage and grace, and her strength inspired those around her.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire others for generations to come. Teresa was a lung cancer survivor at 85.
Teresa leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Thomas D. Casa of Oxford, a daughter, Mary Lucas (Gordon) of Raleigh, NC, step-sons, Dominic Casa (Lynn) of Derby, and Salvatore Casa Jr. (Lisa) of West Haven, grandsons, Thomas C. Casa of Madison, Daniel A. Lucas of Raleigh, NC, and Dennis Keller of Colorado, along with family members of the Bondos and Casa family. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday morning, her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
