Tessie Nizgorski

Tessie M. (Kopec) Nizgorski, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on her 95th birthday, May 28, 2013, at the Village Green of Wallingford.

She is now reunited with her late husband, Walter Nizgorski, who recently passed on March 24. 

Mrs. Nizgorski was born in Derby, daughter of the late Frank and Sophie Karkut Kopec.

She was employed at Shelton Products until her retirement. Tessie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a loving daughter, Frances Ceder (Lawrence) of N. Branford, two brothers, Tadeus Kopec of Shelton and Mitchell Kopec (Sandra) of Seymour, three grandchildren, William Ceder, Deborah DaCunto (Ken) and Kelly Rawson (Brad), five great-grandchildren, Amber and Bradley Rawson and Rachael, Ryan and Jonathan DaCunto all of N. Branford, sisters in law, Janet Kopec, Josephine Kopec and Alice Weir and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Kopec and sisters, Helen Lazowski and Anne Gucwa. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday May 31, 2013, at 1:00 pm at St. Michael’s Church in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on FRIDAY MORNING from 11:30 am until the procession leaves for church at the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tessie’s memory may be made to the Catholic War Veterans St. Michael’s Post 1562, 112 Derby Avenue, Derby, CT 06418 or St. Michael’s Church Building Fund, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby, CT 06418.
