Theresa LeBlanc, 82, beloved wife of Joseph R. LeBlanc, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday evening Aug. 23 at the Shady Knoll Health Care in Seymour.
Mrs. LeBlanc was born in Rumford, Maine on Nov. 10, 1926, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Bernard Chaisson.
During her lifetime, she was employed at the Livermore Shoe Shop in Maine, Avco Lycoming in Stratford, BF Goodrich in Shelton, and as a home health aide for CT VNA.
Theresa was a member of the Gold Star Mothers Auxiliary of CT since 1969. She was a longtime communicant of St. Jude’s Church in Derby, working in the kitchen and was a charter member of the Bingo Committee.
She volunteered with her husband for the Knights of Columbus to raise funds for the Special Olympics and other charities.
She was also an avid volunteer for the Derby Democratic election party under former mayor and long time friend Richard Grande painting many signs for his campaign. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, visiting the casino’s and spending time with her family.
Besides her husband Joe of 46 years, she is survived by 2 sons, David Packard (Pat) of SC and Robert LeBlanc (Joyce) of Derby, 4 daughters, Marie Chabot (Ray) of Maine, Gloria Cole of Derby, Anna Smith (Richard) of Seymour, and Jan Truitt (Richard) of West Haven, a brother Bernard Chaisson of Old Saybrook, a sister Dorothy Doiron of SC, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews, and canine friends Chico and Daisy. She was predeceased by a son Carl E. Packard Jr., 5 brothers and five sisters.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday Aug. 26, 2009 at 9:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the St. Jude’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FH.
