Thomas Duncan

Thomas Duncan, 92 years old, of Ansonia, CT beloved husband of the late Elaine Culmo Duncan, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on September 14, 2023.

Thomas was born in Ansonia, CT on July 23rd, 1931, son of the late Thomas and Jesse Duncan. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he worked at The Evening Sentinel, Fitzpatrick’s, and owned Duncan’s Package Store in Ansonia employed him for more than twenty years. Thomas honorably served his nation in the United States Navy on the USS TACONIC and was deployed in various locations throughout Europe during the early days of the Cold War.

Thomas excelled in high school sports for Ansonia High School as a standout player on the Basketball, Football and Track Teams. Thomas was a three-sport captain for the Lavender during his senior year of high school. 

A dedicated father and husband, Thomas is survived by two sons, Thomas (Barbara) Duncan of Ansonia, Connecticut, Frederick (Lisa) Duncan of Scottsdale, Arizona and son in law Ernie DiStasi (Laura) of Seymour Connecticut. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Duncan Della Volpe and his daughter Laura Duncan DiStasi.

Tom is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Ernie DiStasi, Eric DiStasi (wife), Kendall Duncan, Amanda Duncan, Cole Duncan, Lauren Hale (Thomas Wethington), Caitlin Hale (Angelo Massaglia) and his three great grandsons (Eric).

Friends may call on Friday September 22nd at Jenkins-King & Malerba Funeral home of Ansonia from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 NOON. Prayer services will begin at 12. Burial will follow at in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
