Thomas Paul Simon, age 59 of Ansonia, died January 10, 2025 at home following a sudden illness.
Born in Derby on July 1, 1965, he was the beloved son of Maryann Simon of Ansonia and the late Michael J. Simon.
Mr. Simon was a lifelong resident of Ansonia and 1983 graduate of Ansonia High School.
He played varsity football on the 1980 and on the championship seasons of 1981 – 82 for the Ansonia High School Football Team. A starting center, a hard-hitting linebacker and field goal kicker, Mr. Simon’s athletic talent took him to the University of Rhode Island where he played collegiate football, until an injury prematurely ended his career.
He worked as a driver for the MDO, Mill Work Design by Oxford Company for many years, until the time of his passing.
Mr. Simon enjoyed fantasy football, his weekly card games with his friends and was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys since his childhood.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters, Patricia Rowley and her husband, Kevin, Suzanne Simon, Lisa Siman and a brother, Michael Simon and his wife Kathleen, all of Ansonia; 8 cherished nieces and nephews, as well as 7 cherished great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
A memorial service in celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 6:30 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
