Umberto Ronzone, age 86, a resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, March 12, 2021, at Griffin Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Giovanna Alfano Ronzone.
Mr. Ronzone was born in San Valentino, Province of Pescara, Abruzzi, Italy on June 9, 1934, son of the late Raffaele and Assunta Salerni Ronzone. He worked as a carpenter/cabinet maker until his retirement. Umberto was a life member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 151 in Derby where he enjoyed playing cards, bocce and socializing with friends. He loved to cook for his family and also watch a good hockey game or boxing match.
In addition to his wife Giovanna, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Ciro Ronzone, daughters, Emanuela Soldra (John) and Assunta Maynard (Tyrone), granddaughter, Tabitha Soldra, all of Ansonia, sisters, Sr. Carina Ronzone of Vatican City, Italy, Maria Ronzone of Torino, Italy, Lina Ronzone of Abruzzi, Italy and Anna Ronzone of Milan, Italy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Columbo, Tonino, Emilio and Cetteo Ronzone.
A walk-through visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through to pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am (please meet directly) at St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street in Derby with Rev. Christopher Tiano officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Umberto’s name may be made to St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Italy, an organization dear to Umberto’s heart.
