Verna Quimby

Verna Quimby of Old Saybrook, entered into rest on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

She is the devoted wife of 56 years to her inseparable best friend and husband Howard, as well as the beloved mother of two wonderful sons and a daughter. Verna also adored her sister Joan, along with her precious grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Along with being a devoted wife and mother, she treasured her extensive community of friends. An avid walker and encourager of holistic living, she treasured God’s creation and artistry – one of her greatest sources of joy! An active member of St. John’s Parish, her enthusiastic support of the Adoration Ministry has always been dear to her heart.

An incredibly gifted woman, she loved sharing her many talents with her community. Always a bundle of energy, her industrious nature was an asset wherever it was employed. She loved volunteer work, particularly at her local Chamber of Commerce, Estuary and Women’s Club.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton, CT. Friends may greet the family at St. John’s Church, 161 Main Street, Old Saybrook, on Friday from 10:15 AM to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Verna’s life will begin at 11:00 AM, and then proceed to Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook, CT.

In lieu of flowers, Verna would be most pleased if contributions would be made in her memory to the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, 1 Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, KS 66103 in honor of her sponsored children in the Philippines and Nicaragua, or to St. John School located at 42 Maynard Rd, Old Saybrook, CT 06475 (860) 388 0849.
