Victor Nicholas DeRienzo

Victor Nicholas DeRienzo, age 87, of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest Oct. 12, 2009 at the Griffin Hospital with his devoted family by his side. 

He was the beloved husband of Muriel (Slie) DeRienzo, and was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Anne (Cretella) DeRienzo.

Mr. DeRienzo was born May 10, 1922 in Waterbury, son of the late Louis and Giovanna (Schiavone) DeRienzo.

Victor was a Seymour resident for most of his life coming from Waterbury. He worked for the U.S. Rubber Company, Naugatuck, and also for both the Town’s of Woodbridge and Seymour. 

Victor was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. 

Mr. DeRienzo was a decorated WW II U.S. Army veteran having served in the European Theater of Operations and was awarded the Bronze Star. Victor was a member and Past Commander of the Emil Senger Post 10, American Legion. 

He was an avid golfer and will be most fondly remembered for his devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife, Victor leaves his loving family including two sons, Dr. Thomas DeRienzo and his wife Kathleen of Southbury, and Mark DeRienzo and his wife Christine of Bethany, two daughters, Linda Zibluk and her husband, James of Oxford, and Barbara DeRienzo and her companion Peter Curran of East Haven, his sister, Angeline Walesky of Watertown, eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daria, Courtney, Matthew, Taylor, Christopher, Michael, and Kyle, and two great grandchildren, Adam and Clancy, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his first wife, Victor was predeceased by many other loved family members.

Funeral services will be Friday (Oct. 16) at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. 

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (Oct. 15) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
