Victoria Zenkus, 91, of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2013, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Zenkus.
Mrs. Zenkus was born in Ansonia on Oct. 23, 1921, daughter of the late Matthew and Rose Mikelonis Matulevich. A resident of Ansonia and Seymour her entire life, she was employed at Uniroyal Footwear in Naugatuck for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Bernard Zenkus and Gerald Zenkus (Norma) of Seymour, two daughters, Priscilla “Sybil” Balabon (Ronald) of Ansonia and Christine Vizuete (Juan) of Waterbury, cherished grandchildren, Ronald Balabon of Seymour, Mark Zenkus of NJ, Nicholas Zenkus of Seymour, Jody Zenkus of CA, Malory Knutson of Waterbury, Jordan Jones of Ansonia and Martine Jones of MA, great-grandchildren, Amber & Zackary Balabon, Austin Zenkus, and Bentley Knutson, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter in law, Paula Zenkus.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 8, 2013, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
