Capt. Vincent A. Daley, Jr., of Shelton, Connecticut, who celebrated the 88th anniversary of his birth this last August, passed away February 2, 2017 in the home he designed, built and raised his 5 children with his wife, the late M. Patricia (Renehan) Daley.
Vincent was born in Washington Heights, New York on August 23, 1928, raised in Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Marist High School and Georgia Tech University. Vincent enlisted in the US Navy towards the end of the Korean War, later he was in the Naval Reserves. While stationed at Quonsett Point, RI, he met the love of his life, Patricia.He was a Capatin for United Airlines for 32 years
Vincent spent his retirement years tinkering around the house he lowed so much, whether it was working on a car, a boat or building a train set in the back yard. He also worked at Huntington House Hardware, was an Usher at St. Lawrence Church and enjoyed going to sporting events of his grandchildren.
Vincent is survived by his children; Michael (Alisa) Daley, Kenneth (Candi) Daley, Patricia (Michael) Flood, Anne (John) Stonoha, and Joanne Fleming. Vincent was blessed with fourteen grandchildren; Ian, Justin (Danielle) Daley, Kiera, Alex, and Kate Daley; Caitlin (Tom) Ballaro, James Vincent, and Colleen Flood; Greg, Scott Vincent, and Shannon Stonoha, Jacob and Carter Fleming; and Keith Beavers. Vincent also has five great-grandchildren; Kayla Daley; Kelly and Hunter Beavers; Eve and Marcellus Daley. Vincent also leaves behind, his cousin, Betty Hackett, his sister-in-law Dolly Hadley Daley of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter-in-law, Lacindal. Van Gieson, and many nieces and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Bernice Daley, brother, William J. Daley, Retired Master Sergeant U.S.A.F., Reserves, nephew, Joe Daley, a daughter-in-law, Sandi Daley, and a son-in-law Jon Fleming.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, February 10 from 3 to 7 PM. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 10:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church in Shelton. Burial will be held in the spring at Lawn Cemetery in Shelton, right next to his beloved, Mary Patricia, at a later date.
