Vinni D. Abate, 64, of Woodbridge, entered into eternal rest on Friday evening May 10, 2019, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He was the beloved husband of Susan Pinkus Abate.
Vinni was born in Derby on May 27, 1954, son of the late Vincent and Frances Romano Abate. He was a supernumerary police officer for the City of Ansonia from 1977 to 1987.
Later, after graduating from dental technology school, he went on to a successful career as the respected owner of York Dental Laboratory in Branford for thirty years, until his retirement. Vinni enjoyed spending time at the beach, boating and was a “high-end” sports car enthusiast. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10705 in New Haven.
In addition to his wife Susan, he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving daughter, Chelsey M. Abate of Manhattan, NY, a brother, Michael A. Abate of Seymour, sisters, Cynthia R. Abate and Antoinette Thomson (Scott) of Ansonia, best friend, Sergio Desiderato and countless friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 17, 2019, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Saturday, relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
