Virginia H. Perry

Virginia H. Perry, age 93, entered eternal rest on May 12, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Claude L. Perry, Sr. 

Virginia was born in Derby on April 24, 1931, daughter of the late Andrew and Harriet Martin. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, Virginia was employed by the State of Connecticut as a nurse at the former Fairfield Hills Hospital for many years, until her retirement. 

She enjoyed traveling and sightseeing on the weekends, as well as trips to the casino. Virginia was an avid reader and was especially fond of Stephen King. She had an extensive collection of clown figurines and cabbage patch dolls. 

Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Harrison Washington of Ansonia, Andrew Washington (Vanessa) of Waterbury, Timothy Washington of Ansonia, Claude Perry Jr. of Ansonia and Clayton Perry of Ansonia, daughters, Janice Denby of Derby and Monica Parks of Florida, sister, Joyce Gerard of West Haven, along with numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

She was predeceased by sons, Frederick, Jerome and Howard Washington, brother, Andrew Martin and sisters, Barbara Wright, and Harriet Parks. 

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday May 17, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Clinton A.M.E Zion Church, 96 Central Street in Ansonia. At 11:00 am a funeral service in celebration of Virginia’s life will take place with Pastor Brian Riley officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
