Vito W. Scodese, age 88, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 65 years to Barbara (White) Scodese.
He was born in Bronx, NY, on August 2, 1936, son of the late Frank and Helen (D’Agnillo) Scodese and was a Long Island resident for most of his life before moving to Shelton in 2019. He proudly served with the U.S. Army. Vito was a general manager for Future Metals for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a sports enthusiast who was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball. Vito was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Rangers.
He was the beloved father of Barbara (Gary) Schwenker, Deborah (Randy French) Scodese-French and Lori (Joseph) Todice and brother of Ann Bocchino. He was the loving grandfather of Christopher (Candice) Sims, Danielle Schwenker, Michael ( fiancee Angelica Spagnuolo) Schwenker, Kiana French, Cameron French, Jake Todice and Nicholas Todice, great grandfather of Charlotte and Cheyenne and was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
On Sunday, friends may call from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., with military honors.
