Vittorio D. Monaco, 76, of Stratford, formerly of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on April 18, 2013, at Griffin Hospital. He is survived by his companion of over twenty years, Maria Colucci.
Mr. Monaco was born in San Valentino, Abruzzi, Italy on March 14, 1937, son of the late Giovanni and Rita Casale Monaco. In 1961, he immigrated from Italy to Ansonia and later moved to Stratford.
He was employed in the foundry at Farrel Corporation in Ansonia for 30 years until his retirement. Vittorio’s favorite things in life were watching Italian Soccer and the New England Patriots. He was a talented carpenter, do-it-yourselfer, and a proud card playing member of the Sons of Italy in Derby.
In addition to his companion Maria, he is survived by two daughters, Rosanna Skurat (John) of Naugatuck and Loredana Senetcen (David) of Ansonia, five brothers, Nicola Monaco (predeceased Maria), Franco Monaco (Silvana) and Angelo Monaco (Giovanna) of Ansonia, Valentino Monaco (Dina) of Italy and Giuseppe Monaco (Lillian) of Waterbury, a sister, Dora Ricci (Camillo) of Italy, two granddaughters, Nicole and Rebecca Senetcen, Maria’s children, Palma Quagliata (Carmen) of NJ, Joseph Colucci (Kim) of Milford, Rita Colucci (Edward) of MA, and John Colucci (Cheryl) of Trumbull and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday April 22, 2013, at 11:00 am (PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY) at St. Mark’s Church, 500 Wigwam Lane in Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael’s Mausoleum in Stratford. There will be no public visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Monaco’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements.
