Walter J. Drozeck

Walter J. Drozeck, 85, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was married to his college sweetheart, Bonnie (Maslowski) Drozeck for 64 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Walter and Clara (Kassovich) Drozeck and was very proud of his Polish heritage.

He was the beloved father of Jennifer Higgins and her husband Bill, Mark Drozeck and his wife Marianne, loving grandfather of Isabel, Marissa and Dylan and brother of Veronica Parszik of NY and the late Franklin Drozeck of NY. Walter is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Walter’s career found him teaching for the Fairfield School System for 25 years until his retirement and was the former President of the Teachers Association, both active and retired. Walter was very involved in the Shelton Community. He served as a 4th Ward Alderman for the City of Shelton for 8 years, along with being a member of the Valley Community Foundation’s Gates Society, Open Space Committee and the Republican Town Committee. Walter was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister at St. Lawrence Church. He spent a lot of his free time outside and you would often find him in his treasured vegetable garden. Walter continued his love of learning through travel, both domestically and internationally, and even ran the New York City Marathon three times. He was also a die-hard UCONN Women’s Basketball fan. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family both locally on the porch swing as well as across the country.

On Sunday, friends may greet the family from 1 to 4 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday, his funeral will leave the funeral home at 9:15 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. His burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
