Walter R. Cowell, 72, beloved husband of Anna M. Barbera Cowell, of Seymour, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2011, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Cowell was born in Bridgeport on Dec. 31, 1938, son of the late Edward and Viola Abramczyk Cowell Sr. Walter resided in Newtown before moving to Seymour. He was a US Army veteran (1957-1960) and a former employee of Trico and B&D Molded Products for many years as well as Stranton Industries in Stratford from which he retired. Walter was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed life. He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband and a devoted stepfather.
In addition to his wife of twenty-nine years, he heaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Christine (Steven) Flint of FL, a step-daughter, Elaine Barbera of North Haven, a step-son, Anthony (Kazimiera) Barbera of Ansonia, 2 brothers, Edward Cowell of Newtown and Paul (Pat) Cowell of Naugatuck, a sister, Terry Lafond of West Haven, a brother in law, Joseph (Elizabeth) Barbera of Derby, a sister in law, Geraldine Barbera of Seymour, 7 grandchildren, Tanisha, Channon, and Shawna Garris of North Haven, David Setzer of New Haven, Adam, Nicole, and Andrew Barbera of Ansonia and several nieces, nephews and friends. Walter also leaves his extended family, the Outlaws, Tommy, Kevin, Debbie, Cheryl, and Bobby. The family wishes to thank CT Hospice in Shelton, his nurse, Evelyn Nash, Home Health Aide, “Woody”, Social Worker, Bernice, and Linda Byrd and Marie Fagan for all of their help and support.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 18, 2011, from 3-6 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 6:00 pm, a funeral service and celebration of Walter’s life will be held followed by US Army military honors. Per Walter’s request, his burial will be private.
