William D. “Bill” Boland, age 85, of Derby and formerly of Milford, entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2024, at CT Hospice in Branford.
He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Anna (Miani) Boland. Bill was born on December 1, 1938, in New Haven, son of the late Francis and Marion (Burgess) Boland. He graduated from Milford High School and started his career as an Electrical Designer at Hill & Harrigan and followed by several other firms before retiring from Fletcher Thompson at the age of 70.
Bill continued to work as a consultant until he was 80. He coached the St. Joseph Grammar School and Derby biddy basketball teams as well as the Women’s Pilgrim Softball Team. He enjoyed going target shooting and he recently took up photography. Bill had various showings of his photos across Shelton, Derby, and Milford and his photos he took were made into calendars.
Bill is the loving father of Deborah Clancy and her husband Kevin, Michael Boland and his wife Sandy, Thomas Boland and his wife Lisa, and Diana Schumitz and her husband Robert, cherished grandfather to Jacqueline Doolittle, Vincent Clancy, Nicholas Boland, Daniel Boland, and Amber Boland, and loving great-grandfather to Vivienne Doolittle and Juliette Doolittle.
He was predeceased by his grandmother Ella Burgess. Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. for his Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby.
Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to any charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.adzimafh.com.
