William F. “Bill” Hope

William F. Bill” Hope age 69 of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Frances Carrick Hope.

Bill was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 28, 1942, son of the late Raymond and Mary (Tobin) Hope.

He was a Bridgeport, Milford, Shelton, Windsor, VT and Lordship resident for many years.

As an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Company for over 35 years until his retirement in 2008 Bill truly enjoyed his work and the contact and friendship with his many clients.

He was a graduate of Bassick High School Class of 60 where he excelled in baseball and football. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving his country from 1960 to 1964. 

Bill was a very active volunteer serving many organizations. He was a former member of the Sterling Ski Club serving as President for two terms and was
instrumental in the purchase of their Glenn Ellen Lodge. 

He was also President of the CT Ski Council and served on the board of the US Ski Association. 

He enjoyed his work with the Barnum Festival serving as a parade marshal and co chairman of the Tom Thumb and Lavinia Warren Contest. 

Bill was also President of the Mohegan School PTO and the Shelton PTA Council. 

As a staunch supporter of education he made his presence heard at many BOE meetings.

When Bill wasn’t busy volunteering, he would love to relax at the cottage in Lordship. Play a round of golf or spend time at the camp in Windsor, VT with family and friends, but, his greatest joy came from playing with his grandchildren. 

They were the light of his life.

Bill was the beloved father of Michael Hope and his wife Karin and the loving grandfather of Maggie, Aidan, Devin, and Gabriella Hope. 

He was predeceased by his infant son Christopher, daughter Victoria, and triplet grandsons.

Friends may greet his family on Monday from 3 to 7 in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd Shelton. 

Friends may gather directly on Tuesday at 11:30am in St. Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave. in the Huntington Center Section of Shelton for a mass of Christian burial.

Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Buckingham Avenue, Milford.
