William Frederick Sihau, age 94, of Shelton, entered into rest on Thursday April 9, 2020 in St. Vincent Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Wilke) Sihau. He was born in Waterbury on August 14, 1925, son of the late Henry and Wilhelmina Sonnenberg Sihau.
William was a dispatcher with Southern New England Telephone for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard serving during W.W.II. He was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church in Waterbury where he served as a member of the church council, usher and volunteer. He was a 32nd degree Mason as well as a member of the American Legion. William enjoyed bowling and cheering on the UCONN Women’s Basketball team.
In retirement, he loved getting together every Saturday with his friends to share breakfast and maintain the church property. He is survived by his two beloved children Dr. David Sihau and his wife Tammy, Judith Gulish and his husband Michael, three loving grandchildren Lindsey Sihau and her fiance Chris Hunt, Stephen Gulish and his wife Kristen and Catherine Gulish and several nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers Henry and Edward Schnitzel and one sister Olga S. Mitchell.
Due to the pandemic health crisis, a private burial will be held with the immediate family in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Waterbury for the public to attend to support William family.
