William George Bizub

William George (Bill) Bizub, age 81, of Shelton, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Kathleen (Kay) Nowosadko Bizub.

Mr. Bizub was born in Stratford on Dec. 5, 1931, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Valek Bizub, and was a Shelton resident for most of his life.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a tool and dye maker for over 45 years at Bridgeport Metal Goods until his retirement. He was an avid gardener — he not only had a green thumb, he had green fingers, and he shared his wonderful vegetables and flowers with everyone. He was a fan of classic movies and a trivia buff, but most of all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family. Everyone he met said he had a kind and generous soul. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bill is the beloved father of Kathy Bizub and Cheryl Bizub Youmans and her husband Kevin. He is the cherished grandfather of Carleigh Youmans. He is the brother of Evelyn Skerencak, and the uncle of Elizabeth and Deborah Skerencak. He was predeceased by his three brothers Michael, Joseph, and Edward Bizub, his brothers-in-law Fred Nowosadko and Paul Skerencak, his nephew Paul Nowosadko, and his niece Celia Nowosadko.

Friends may greet his family on Wednesday, July 10th from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road in Shelton. On Thursday a funeral service will be held at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Stratford.

At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center, 333 Cedar Street, P.O. Box 208028, New Haven, CT 06520.
