William H. “Bud” Wheeler

Mr. William H. Bud” Wheeler, age 91, of Oxford, beloved husband of the late Blanche E. (Kwasnik) Wheeler, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and caregivers. 

Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late William and Phoebe (Hubbell) Wheeler and was born on June 1, 1920 in Oxford. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and then as a pilot with the U.S Army Air Corp. Mr. Wheeler was the owner and operator of the Bud Wheeler Plumbing and Heating until his retirement at the age of 85. He was a member of the David S. Miles, American Legion Post 10 in Oxford and the Lions Club in Oxford. He was an avid golfer and participated in leagues at the former Great Hill Golf Club in Seymour, East Mountain Golf Club in Waterbury and Wood Haven Country Club in Bethany. 

Me. Wheeler is survived by his two devoted children, William A. Wheeler of Oxford and Susan Slater of Mequon, WI and his sister, Mrs. Welsey Olive” Lourigan of Oxford and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister Mary Swaine predeceased him. The family would like to express a Special Thanks to the VA Home Based Primary Care for all of the care and especially to the CNAs and Home Health Aides during the past 2 years. 

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the VA CT Healthcare System for Home Based Primary Care, 950 Campbell Avenue,West Haven, CT 06516 or to the Collings Foundation, P.O.
