William Merwin Jr., age 80 of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of 28 years to Barbara Sytus Merwin, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Griffin Hospital.
William was born in Bridgeport, Ct., on February 1, 1932. He worked for Stevenson Lumber Yard for many years before his retirement. William served with pride and honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War having attained the rank of Corporal. He enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid bingo player. William will be sadly missed by his friends and family.
In addition to his beloved wife Barbara his loving family includes two daughters Joyce of Stratford and Denise of Seymour, a step-daughter Pamela Koons of California, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren Krystal Angelette of California and Rocco Cioffo of Florida and several cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his son William Merwin Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home 260 Bank Street, ‘Rte 67’ Seymour (opposite Klarides Village), at 11:00a.m. with Reverend Leonard Kvedas, Pastor of St. Michael Church, Beacon Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot with full military honors to be accorded at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
