William Mitchell

William Mitchell, age 82 of Ansonia, passed away May 7, 2014 in the VITAS Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 52 years to Patricia (Walsh) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Ansonia, October 12, 1931, son of the late John Mitchell Sr. and Jessie (McQueen) Mitchell. William served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War and worked as a machinist for Ansonia Copper & Brass for many years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Norwood Athletic Club of Ansonia, the VFW Post 5405 of Winter Springs, FL, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Seminole County Aerie #4449 of Winter Springs, FL.

Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Tricia Mitchell-Morse and her husband Steve of Tolland, and Tracy Mitchell of Milford; his granddaughters, Kellie, Kerrie, and Katie Morse of Tolland; his brothers, James Mitchell of Monroe, and George Mitchell of Ansonia; his sisters, Jessie Martonak of Ansonia, and Margaret Soldra of Ansonia; his faithful grand dog, Casey; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Mitchell Jr.; and sister, Ann Snodgrass.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM meeting DIRECTLY at the Church of the Assumption, Ansonia. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM in the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton.
