Yolanda Mencome, 86, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2015, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Mencome.
Mrs. Mencome was born in Trieste, Italy on September 28, 1929, daughter of the late Luigi and Margherita Giarizzo. A resident of the Valley for many years, she was a member of the Ansonia and Derby Senior Centers and a former member of the Sons of Italy Women’s Auxiliary in Derby.
She is survived by a loving son, Anthony Mencome (Cheryl) of Raleigh, NC, loving daughters, Eleanor Vinchinski (Edward) of Gilbert, AZ and Anna Carlson (Bruce) of Beacon Falls, sister, Nella Bruno of Australia, cherished grandchildren, E.J. Vinchinski III of CA, Brian Vinchinski (Ashley) of WA, Robert Carlson and Corrine Carlson of Beacon Falls and Jenna Mencome of NC, great granddaughter, Sofia Vinchinski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six sisters and a brother.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday November 2, 2015, from 4 – 7 PM in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, her funeral will be held at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Jude Church in Derby. Interment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
