Ansonia City Hall Gets Video Recording System

Photo:ethan fryA camera system was installed in Ansonia City Hall’s Aldermanic Chambers Tuesday to record digital videos of public meetings and publish them online.

Aldermen voted to have the camera system installed in August after receiving three bids for the equipment, the lowest of which was from Milford’s Smarthome and Theater Systems, for $9,324.

Pictured are Smarthome’s Ralph Aleksiejczuk and Ronilson Lima installing cables for the new system Tuesday (Oct. 7) morning.

The system will consist of two cameras, said Sheila O’Malley, the city’s grants writer and economic development director — one to capture audience members and speakers, and another to capture public officials on boards and commissions.

O’Malley said the camera system also has live-streaming capabilities.

The cameras record video in high definition and store them on a 2‑terabyte hard drive.
