Valley Food Resources/Valley Food Bank List

HARTFORD — The Connecticut Department of Social Services’ summer EBT program has been delayed six weeks, CT News Junkie reported on June 25.

This particular program is new and is intended to help children while school isn’t in session, according to CT News Junkie. The delay is only for this specific program, according to the article.

The delay prompted the Seymour Oxford Food Bank to post the following on Facebook on June 26:

We are aware that the DSS summer SNAP benefits have been delayed and won’t be received until late August. Summer causes an increase in food expenses with children home from school and receiving extra help in August is not helpful.

Please reach out to the Food bank if you find yourself needing an extra boost through the summer. This is what we are here for and there is no SHAME in visiting us. Many of our neighbors are in this very position and we want you to know you’re not alone. You can call 203 – 888-7826, email sofbinc.1@gmail.com or reach out through FB Messenger.

We are here to help and together make sure no one in our community struggles alone.”
