The person — whose name was not released — was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with “non-life threatening injuries,” police said in a statement.

Police received a report of shots fired at about 8:30 p.m. near Howard and May Street, according to the statement.

“Officers were able to locate evidence that a shooting had occurred but no victims were found,” police said.

Griffin Hospital staff then alerted police to the fact they were treating a gunshot victim.

“The Detective Bureau is following up on multiple leads and requesting that anyone with information contact the Ansonia Police Department at 203-735-1885,” police said.
