Update: Oxford School Official Named Seymour HS Principal

The Seymour Board of Education Monday voted to name Glenn Lungarini as the new high school principal.

Lungarini is currently the assistant principal and assistant athletic director at Oxford High School, Oxford Patch reported.

Lungarini starts in Seymour July 1.

His appointment by the school board was unanimous.

I’m very excited for the opportunity that lies ahead,” Lungarini said following Monday’s meeting at Seymour Middle School.

At the same time, it’s going to be bittersweet leaving Oxford. Over the last five years, I’ve put a lot into that town and into the school system. I care very much for the staff there. I care very much for the students and the parents who are there. While it is bittersweet, I’m very excited about the opportunity and the challenge that lies ahead, and the next step of my professional journey.”

Seymour schools Assistant Superintendent Christine Syriac sent the following e‑mail Tuesday morning:

It is with great pleasure that I share with you that at a special meeting of the Board of Education on May 7, 2012 the Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Mr. Glenn Lungarini as the next principal of Seymour High School.

Mr. Lungarini is currently the Assistant Principal of Oxford High School. We are very excited to have Glenn join our learning community. Glenn and I look forward to finding multiple opportunities in the coming months for you to meet with him prior to his official start date of July 1, 2012.”
