The event featured music, food, fireworks, and an vintage baseball game between teams representing Ansonia and Derby.
Officials from both cities made the game more interesting with a bet that the Aldermen from whichever city lost the game must serve a meal at the senior center of the winning city.
Derby’s “Osbornedales” beat out Ansonia’s “Coppermen” by one run Sunday, so Ansonia’s Aldermen will be showcasing their food service talents in Derby at some point in the near future.

Mayor David Cassetti’s office sent the following statement to reporters Monday (July 21) afternoon:
Mayor Cassetti today voiced his thanks to Ansonia’s residents for making Summerfest 2014 a tremendous success. “It was wonderful to see our community band together to enjoy a night of great food and entertainment on Nolan Field,” he said. “It would not have worked without the support of our residents. It was a pleasure to be in such good company.”
The Mayor and his staff also extended thanks to the people that made Ansonia’s first-ever Summerfest a reality.
“I want to thank all the members of the planning committee, my staff, volunteers, ball players, coaches, the local food vendors, the city’s public works, police and emergency rescue services for their hard work and dedication to this event.”
Mayor Cassetti noted that the event was well attended and that festival goers enjoyed great performances by the bands, delicious food and beverages from area vendors and an exciting old-fashioned ball game.
In the coming days City Hall will post some pictures of the event on the website and make some photos available to view at the Ansonia Public Library.
The 125th celebration will continue this weekend with a Town Wide Tag Sale. The transfer station will stay open until 5pm for any resident to dis-guard any un-wanted items after the tag sale.
Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your Summer Ansonia.
