He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Superior Court in Derby.
In a prepared statement, police said Infante and his wife, Lisa, were going through a divorce and had an argument Sunday night. The Infantes have four children.
“During the argument, Thomas Infante shot and killed his wife,” the statement from police said.
Infante allegedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting, but surrendered to police Monday after being named a “person of interest” in the case.
Lisa Infante’s death has been ruled a homicide.

EMS and emergency responders were posting blue teardrops on social media Monday in memory of her and her volunteerism in Shelton.
Shelton police were called to the Infante house at 7 Hickory Lane at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report that someone had died.
“Upon arrival, police officers discovered a 52-year-old woman deceased in the home,” Bango said in a prepared statement early Monday.
