Police Release Information On Crash That Killed Ansonia Man

Bridgeport police released some information about a crash early Sunday (June 19) that claimed the life of Ansonia High School football standout Darnell Cooks.

The accident remains under investigation.

The 2005 Ansonia High School graduate was the passenger in a black Acura Integra being driven by his fiancé, Amanda Shaw of Shelton. A friend, Nigel Troupe of Bridgeport, was in the back seat.

Shaw and Troupe were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The second vehicle, a silver BMW, was being driven by Ramazan Gonenc, of Gurnee, Ill. The BMW carried one passenger, Harry Winifred of Queens, N.Y.

Both were taken to an unspecified hospital for serious injuries.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. at the intersection of Boston and Noble avenues.

No tickets or arrests have been made. Trumbull PD is assisting in the investigation.
