Standing in front of a crowd of Republicans who had just had nominated him for a second, two-year term Thursday, Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller held two things in his hands — a printout of an article from the Valley Indy and a list.
A very long list.
The article was about the town Democratic caucus, where the Dems didn’t nominate a candidate to challenge Miller, but took a few shots at his administration nonetheless.
The list, meanwhile, was titled “accomplishments.” It was two pages long with 34 items.
“We accomplished a lot of things in the last two years,” Miller said. “I’m actually going to read off a list. I was going to stay quiet tonight, but I got a little annoyed by some of the comments made by our counterparts last night,” he said, referencing the quotes in the Indy article.
He then read the list, which started with the cleanup of the Housatonic Wire building and ended with placing a Seymour police officer back into the statewide narcotics task force.

“It’s important that we get this information out (to) not only the residents of this town, but all of you understand the impact you’re having the community you live in,” Miller said.
Miller credited Seymour’s “team” — the volunteers on the town’s boards and commissions, and the town’s professional staff — for making it all happen.
“Everybody in this room, because you are all a part of it, should be very proud of the work you put in over the last 18 months,” Miller said.
He then credited past First Selectmen — both Republican and Democrat — for laying the foundation that helps Seymour succeed.
While Miller’s nomination for a second term was not a surprise, there were a few during the GOP’s nominating process.
The GOP voters in the room nominated Annmarie Drugonis, Nicole Klarides Ditria, Al Bruno and Len Greene Jr. to run for the Seymour Board of Selectmen.
Incumbent Board of Selectmen member Gary Bruce did not get enough votes from the Republicans to run for another term.
Incumbent school board member Peter Kubik also did not receive enough votes from his fellow GOPers for another term.
