Rory Burke Can’t Win In Seymour Unless He Quits

Town of Seymour PhotoRory Burke, Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller’s administrative assistant, won a seat on the Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday, but won’t be able to serve because he’s a town employee.

Shortly after Burke topped a field of four candidates for the commission with 2,141 votes, Miller said that Republicans were mistaken in a previous interpretation that it was OK for Burke to serve in both roles.

Cheat Sheet: Seymour 2015 Election

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Seymour, the race for the city’s top office pits incumbent Republican Kurt Miller against Democratic challenger Zani Imetovski, who works at the state capitol as an assistant clerk for the committee on public health.

The candidates appeared separately on the Valley Indy’s weekly talk show, Valley Navel Gazing,” to make their pitch to residents. Recordings of both appearances are embedded below.

Seymour Resident: Vote For Imetovski

Next Tuesday, Nov. 3, I will cast my vote for Zani Imetovski for First Selectman of Seymour. 

He is a man of integrity who has accomplished much. As president of the University of New Haven Student Government he managed a one and a half million-dollar budget and ten employees. He served in Washington, DC as an intern for Senator Blumenthal. He managed a successful campaign for our State Representative, Theresa Conroy. He currently works as a legislative aid in Hartford.

Greene Makes The Case To Re-Elect Republicans In Seymour

As a candidate for the Board of Selectman two years ago I voiced a strong interest in seeing the town’s financial foundation stabilized, better roads and infrastructure, a higher quality of life for our residents, more efficient government, better schools, and eventually lower residential taxes.
